Femme Invisibility w/ Jacq The Stripper – Ep. 36

Queer Bimbo(TM) Jacqueline Frances aka Jacq the Stripper graces the Dyking Out studio with her presence to talk about Femme Invisibility. Is it still even a thing? What kind of pressures do baby dykes face to look or conform to certain lesbian ideals? Do we all go through the vest phase? We revisit our Strippers topic as Jacq dishes about why women are terrible strip club patrons, and how the gig has helped her be true to her own identity when she’s off the stage. We also talk about Canada because when you have two Canadians in the same space, by law, they have to talk about. Plus, Carolyn rants about the terfs who attacked her on Twitter.

Politics of Misogyny w/ Talia Lavin – Ep. 35

The hilarious, smart, and talented Talia Lavin (The New Yorker, Village Voice, Jewish Daily Forward) joins us to dyke out about the everyday rage fire that is misogyny, specifically, how it plays into politics and how different parties deal with it. Talia drops some knowledge about fearless Stormy Daniels and her MMA fighter– er, lawyer, and she shares her thoughts on why it’s important to hold people accountable for misogynistic and abusive behavior. We also salivate over the movie Disobedience, praise Lena Waithe’s wardrobe choices, and Talia tells us about a sex toy that has her seeing sparks.

Kids & Gender w/ Caitlin Ruppert – Ep. 33

Three cis-gendered queer women without kids walk into a podcasting studio to talk about challenging gender norms and raising children. What could go wrong? Comedian and child-caregiver Caitlin Ruppert joins us to talk about why we need to stop shaming and correcting kids who act outside of gender norms. Also, who decided that trucks are for boys anyways when, newsflash, women are allowed to drive them too (at least in this country). Are gender reveal parties strictly a straight person thing? Why are people obsessed with the romantic lives of babies? (It does sound a little bit adorable…) We also talk about the terrible people who love forcing other to drink shots. If that’s you, KNOCK IT OFF.

Threesomes w/ Brooke Arnold – Ep. 32

Three’s company in this episode all about threesomes. Comedian and recovering fundamentalist Brooke Arnold (Caroline’s on Broadway, Marie Claire, NYC Fringe Fest) dykes out with us about doing the deed with a party of 2. How do threesomes come about? Why do couples love asking lesbians to join them in bed? Is it possible for couples to have healthy threesomes that don’t ruin their relationship? Also, we expose Tall Texans for what it really is, a front for Lone Star dykes. And, Brooke spills the deets about her vagina dentata (sort of).

Pansexuality w/ Mindy Raf – Ep. 30

Pansexual is no longer just the term once used to describe pixyland.org. It’s actually a sexual identity that an increasing number of people in the LGBTQ community identify with despite its anemic representation in mainstream media and pop culture. We’ve talked about it before, but wanted to invite quintuple threat Mindy Raf (TNT, VH1, MTV’s Girl Code) to dyke out about her pansexuality in more detail. We also revisit the topic of polyamory and do it much more justice than the first time around (sorry polys!). We hope you enjoy the discussion, and if not, then you can walk right out the fe-door-a (or just email us and tell us why). Plus, one of our hosts makes an exciting announcement that only her and her mom will probably care about! Tune in!

Sex w/ Emma Willmann – Ep. 29

She plays the new girlfriend of the non-crazy ex-girlfriend on the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, comedian Emma Willmann (Late Show, Sirius XM, NPR, HBO’s Crashing) drops by the Dyking Out studios to talk about sex…and comedy, and dating, and exes, and podcasts…but also sex. How do you figure out sexual boundaries? What role do toys play? What’s the right way to bring up STDs? Lesbian bed death? WHO’S THE MAN??? (SPOILER: It’s always Emma). Take a listen to this wild ride of an episode, and find out why Emma is a force on the comedy scene. Also…

Catholic School w/ Nikki Palumbo – Ep. 23

Comedy writer and proud gaytheist Nikki Palumbo (UCB, Above Average, Reductress) went to catholic school and lived to tell us about it. It turns out it’s not the lesbian underground we thought it was. How can one survive all the guilt and shame brought on by the church? How does a budding lesbian hide amongst the plaid skirts unnoticed? Are nuns even a little gay, and would they be offended that their calling is our backup plan when all else fails? We also dyke out about the super stressful experience of having to find a dude to go to prom with when it’s the last thing you want to be doing. Plus, Carolyn misremembers the plot points of one of her favorite movies.

P.S. This episode was recorded on Jennifer Aniston’s birthday, and boy is that Aveeno lotion working wonders! We’d like to formally thank Jennifer for sending our new intern Karina our way!
