Burlesque w/ Nyx Nocturne – Ep. 109

We’re sending you off into the Thanksgiving holiday with an extra-long revealing episode about the art of Burlesque with “The Babe That Goes Bump In The Night,” AKA Nyx Nocturne! Nyx tells us about their journey of getting into burlesque, how it intersects with their identity, choosing a name and persona, and more! Past guest and current comedian / filmmaker Kendall Payne came on as gust co-host and brings the LOLs. But before we dig into the topic, we dish about the upcoming premier of The L Word: Generation Q. Carolyn pitches an alternate show and questions the choice of characters to bring back. Then we discuss astrology as it relates to The Pattern app, and whether or not we’re all living in a complex simulation. There are so many twists and turns in this episode! Lastly, we cap it off with a listener question about popping the question…to their partner’s father.

Trans-cis Relationships w/ Jeena Bloom – Ep. 108

Big episode alert. Comedian Jeena Bloom (Shweet! The Ladies Guide to Bro Culture podcast) joins us to dyke out about her experiences as a transgender woman and how she navigates relationships with cis partners, friends, family and co-workers. Plus, Melody Kamali, of Masturbation episode fame, fills in as guest co-host this week. We also talk about our pilgrimage to New Jersey to hear Robyn Crawford speak about her new memoir detailing her relationship with Whitney Houston. And…well…it’s not what we expected. And as always, we end with a question from a listener who made non-refundable vacation plans with someone they’re no longer dating. We’re sending out a big virtual hug to all of our Susans this week. Once you listen to the episode, you’ll understand why.

Relationship Roles w/ Whitney Chanel Clark – Ep. 107

Comedian Whitney Chanel Clark (Broadway Comedy Club) has a bone to pick about assumed roles in relationships. Like why are more masc-presenting women expected to pay on dates or service selfish pillow princesses? What are the double standards that take place in same-sex relationships, and what can we do to defy stereotypes? We explore all of this and more (strap-ons, domestic abuse, cheating) in this extra candid episode. But first, we try to figure out how to stop the heteros from their destructive and lethal gender reveal parties. Finally, we end with a messy listener question about an inappropriate manager.

Androgyny w/ Irene Tu – Ep. 106

We’re blurring the lines of gender expressing and talking all about androgyny with comedian Irene Tu! Named one of the best up-and-coming comedians by Vulture, Irene tells us about her path to her current aesthetic and habit of shopping in the mens section. Plus, we go off on pockets for the second time because we can’t shout enough about how badly we need properly sized pockets to put our lezsentials in (okay, maybe chapstick fits in small spaces, but you get what we mean). We also talk about our latest Stonewall show and both the amazing and not-so-amazing audience etiquette. Then we cover representative Kate Hill’s resignation and the 2020 primary field. Finally, we end with a listener question about significant others and military ambitions!
